One Last Photo of Texas......

I'm leaving you with one last photo I took in Texas. We stopped after graduation at what I call the "Windmill Farm".....they were everywhere! You can't imagine how large they are, which is why i'm glad there is a truck in this photo as well. The noise they make is this really soft whooshing sound. It's very peaceful.........which we should have enjoyed more, because the next story I tell is far from peaceful! More from our trip coming........I'm off to a t-ball game!

Crash Rescue/Firefighting Graduation Part Two:

Here we are at graduation ceremonies.....Kenneth is ready for it to start so he can get the heck out of there, lol! It was a very nice ceremony. They showed a video the boys put together of the pictures they took during their stay. They then introduce each of them and they go through the line and shake the commanders hands. A badge is given to them and once everyone has gone through they bring them up front and let the family members that are there come up and pin them. Kenneth's friend Flores didn't have anyone there so Kayla pinned him. Other dignitaries will go and pin the others with no family members. Now, the Marines have to give theirs back.....they get NOTHING, yes....they only get their certificate which I think is a crock, but what do I know anyway?

Note how many Marines there are graduating vs the Air Force.....there were only 6 or so Air Force, the rest were Marines

This is where he's getting the badge he has to give back.

Kenneth's roommate on the left.....CREEPY GUY....Kenneth had to put him in his place a few times. Sounds like most everyone didn't like him! Flores is to the right. He is one of Kenneth's best friends.

Crash Rescue/Firefighting Graduation Part One:

Here we are on graduation day: May 1, 2009 at Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo, Texas. These pictures are ones I took as we walked from Kenneth's dorm to the graduation ceremony with him.
Now, I guess I better go back and explain some things. We left at 8:30 AM (I believe) on Wednesday, April 29th in a rented suburban. There was: Myself, Kali, Kayla, Kayla's boyfriend Josh-the only male, Cori (Kenneth's girlfriend) and Sherrie (Cori's mom). We drove all night long....rotating as we could between three of us. Kayla was too young to drive in a rental, lol. Anyways, as we are walking to the ceremony we are noticing that other military guys walking toward classes or graduation walked to a certain point and then took off and ran at another. This kept happening, there were guys standing outside and would yell at them to run. We figured that's just what they did. We get to that point and have two military guys running at us and telling us to run. We don't really know what to do at first, then we all take off and run. We get to the doors and one kid (who came to me because I was packing a camera bag and my loose camera, he helped me carry it) comes to me and apologizes for making us run. They were told there was a tornado warning so everyone needed to run......just not the civilians. Not sure if it was because they didn't care about us and the tornado (watch for another story on this topic) or because they were using that as an excuse (i'm thinking this is the right one).

Picture above is part of their training facility

This is one of the cutest series of photos. Kali's feet were getting sore from all the walking and Josh was kind enough to let her take them off and he packed not only her shoes, but her. He then stopped to take a rest...glad I was behind them shooting pictures:)

San Angelo, Texas

Here are some pictures I took while we hung out with Kenneth the day before his graduation. We stayed in the area close to the base as it had quite a few antique stores. I'm not sure what the significance of the sheep are, but these sheep were everywhere and all painted different. I will have to find out as i'm very curious.

Can I just say I LOVE THIS OLD WASHER.....the way it's painted, everything! If I could have taken it and strapped it to the suburban I would have! If anyone knows where I can find an old one please let me know!

Took this when we dropped Kenneth off after a nice Mexican dinner. His Marine buddy Flores met us there as well. Kenneth's room was bottom left right by the second light from the left.

Seeing our Kenneth for the first time in a long time....

Here we are at Goodfellow Airforce Base in San Angelo, Texas on Thursday, April 30, 2009. This is the day before graduation. We told Kali we needed to go to the base so we would know where we would need to park, etc. for graduation the next day. She didn't know that Bubba was hiding at the visitors building and could go spend the day with us. We all unloaded the suburban, did a bit of stretching, then let her go first............

Bad Blogger

Yes, that is me! Man, I have several things to put up. Not guaranteeing that they'll all get put up today, but I will work on some. If I put them all up now, you won't come back......and I know some of you are waiting for a certain something, not sure what:)

Easter 2009

Here are a few pictures of the girls coloring Easter eggs. They did a special one for their Bubba........
