NEW HAIR CUT:

Our baby is growing up........."sigh"........she has been wanting a new haircut, so I finally gave in. I didn't let her go as short as she wanted, and we are so happy with the outcome. She loves her "new hair".......and so does mom!

WELCOME HOME:

With the arrival of MWSS-372 coming soon, I had Kali's class, as well as many others make "Welcome Home" cards for each and every Marine in that unit! I must say we exceeded expectations, and sent Camp Pendleton 520 cards (pre-school-3rd grade)!!! These were put in goodie bags in the Marines freshly cleaned barracks, and await their arrival! Each Marine will have two cards! Now, I have come up with another idea for the pictures of these cards. I'm thinking about making note cards, packaging them up, then selling them with a portion of the proceeds to go to a Marine/military charity. These cards would target military family/friends, or those who just want to send a card to someone in the military. I will let everyone know when I have them for sell, and what charity will benefit from the sale of these cards. They will be on my etsy shop.

The one below is one that Kali made of her Bubba. She was home with the flu, and made 16 cards!

BOOKS:

I haven't posted anything in a while, and since I've been doing a lot of reading this year, I decided let everyone know what I've read, and what I will be reading!
Below are books I have yet to read/finish. The top one is what I'm currently reading. I'm almost finished, and it's been one of those I have a hard time putting down! My next read will be "Moment of Truth in Iraq" by Michael Yon. Michael is a photographer, author, columnist and war correspondent, current embedded in Afghanistan. I encourage all of you to follow him on his website: http://www.michaelyon-online.com/ or on facebook: http://www.facebook.com/MichaelYonFanPage?ref=nf

These are some that I have already read, and I must say I loved each and every one of them!! I'm sure everyone already knows about the Twilight series, so no need to explain there! "Columbine" by Dave Cullen is a powerful book taking you back to the horrific massacre in Littleton, Colorado. This is a book that I read in two settings! "The Good Soldiers" by David Finkel takes you to the war in Iraq. David reports from the front lines with Battalion 2-16. I will let you know that this is very graphic, as he tells it like it is. I have had people ask how I could read this when I have a son in Afghanistan. I'm not sure how I did it, I guess I have felt at peace about my son being OK. This is another book that I read in two sessions!
I would love to hear if any of you have read any of these books, and take your requests for any "good reads"
